Regulation Cornhole Bags
Playing in a league or running a tournament? Regulation bags matter: a bag that is too light, too small or overstuffed changes how it flies and slides.
Here is what "regulation" means, and how to get a custom printed set for your team, league or event.
Regulation cornhole bag size and weight
Regulation bags are square, 6 by 6 inches, with a small tolerance either way. They weigh about 16 ounces; the major associations allow roughly 15 to 16.5 ounces, depending on the rule book.
Bags are filled with plastic resin or corn and sewn with a double-stitched seam so they do not burst. Many league bags are dual-sided, with a slower "stick" side and a faster "slick" side.
Which rule book does your league use?
In North America, most organized play follows the American Cornhole League (ACL) or the American Cornhole Organization (ACO) rules. Many Canadian rec leagues use one of these as a base and add house rules.
Before you order a league set, check your league's rule book for the exact weight range and whether bags must come from an approved list. Approval programs are run by the associations themselves. Custom printed bags are ideal for rec leagues, social leagues, fundraisers and team practice.
The rest of the regulation setup
Regulation boards are 2 by 4 feet with a 6 inch hole centred 9 inches from the top. The top of the board sits 12 inches off the ground and the front edge 2.5 to 4 inches.
Boards are placed 27 feet apart, front edge to front edge. For a casual game or kids, shorten that to about 21 feet.
